India-Israel MoU Unlocks Rampage Missile Tech: Post-Sindoor Boost for IAF Precision Strikes
The November 4, 2025, Tel Aviv Joint Working Group (JWG) signing, co-chaired by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, heralds a new era in India-Israel defense ties, unlocking full technology transfer for Rampage and Air LORA missiles post-Operation Sindoor’s triumphs. With BEL and HAL leading ‘Make in India’ production alongside DRDO, this MoU shifts India from buyer to co-developer, fortifying IAF’s stand-off strike arsenal against evolving threats.
Operation Sindoor: Rampage’s Combat Baptism
In May 2025’s Operation Sindoor—retaliation to Pahalgam attack—Rampage missiles from Su-30MKIs obliterated terror hubs in Muridke and Bahawalpur with pinpoint precision, evading HQ-9 SAMs and GPS jamming. The 570kg, 250-450km range weapon’s high-speed low-drag design proved indispensable, prompting fast-track orders and local production.
MoU Details: Tech Transfer and Integration
The pact covers Rampage (HSLD-Mark 2) and Ice Breaker cruise variants, integrated with Su-30MKI, Jaguar, MiG-29, and eyed for Rafale upgrades. IAI-BEL’s 2023 MoU evolves into full ToT, enabling indigenous lines for quasi-ballistic Air LORA against layered defenses.
Strategic Shift: Deeper Strikes in Contested Skies
Facing China’s LAC deployments and Pakistan’s jamming, these missiles extend IAF reach, complementing BrahMos and SCALP. Exports to Quad partners could follow, amplifying India’s role.
This MoU is more than metal—it’s a precision edge for India’s skies.
