Defence Exports Cross ₹25,000 Cr in FY25: Tejas, BrahMos Lead Surge

India’s defence exports have surpassed ₹25,000 crore in FY25, a 10-fold increase from ₹2,500 crore in 2016, according to the Ministry of Defence’s annual report released on October 24, 2025. The surge is driven by Tejas Mk-1A, BrahMos missiles, and Akashteer air defense systems, with over 85 countries engaging in procurement discussions.

• BrahMos: $375M deal with Indonesia; Vietnam in final talks

The MoD’s 51% capital spend has fueled production scaling, while iDEX startups contributed 12% of export value through drones and electronics. The Scorpène MoU opens submarine export pathways post-2030.

HAL and BrahMos Aerospace lead private sector contributions, with 68 DPSUs and 340 MSMEs in the supply chain. India now ranks in the global top 20 defence exporters, with 71% of output destined for the Indo-Pacific.
