India Strengthens Naval Power with New Indigenous Stealth Destroyer
The Indian Navy has added a new indigenously-built stealth destroyer to its fleet. This marks a major step in Project 15B, aimed at enhancing maritime combat power. The warship was commissioned at a naval base in western India. It features stealth technology, long-range missiles, and improved radar systems.
Named after a former warship, the destroyer is equipped with BrahMos missiles, modern sensors, and electronic warfare systems. It also supports helicopter operations, making it versatile in both combat and reconnaissance roles.
This ship is part of India’s push for self-reliance in defence. It was built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) under the “Make in India” initiative.
With this induction, the Indian Navy improves its blue water capabilities. The ship will patrol oceanic routes and secure India’s strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific.
